Paul Klostermann is a PhD student at the doctoral school for Evolution and Ecology at the University of Vienna and is based at the department of anthropology at the Natural History Museum in Vienna. Since 2021, he has been involved in the Synergy ERC project HistoGenes, which seeks to reconstruct the early medieval period in Central Europe through an interdisciplinary approach, drawing on archaeology, history, biological anthropology, and ancient genetics. His doctoral research focuses on the osteological study of adolescence within this historical context, specifically examining the fluctuations in growth and development and their relationship to past living environments. Additionally, he explores the methodological challenges and approaches involved in studying adolescence and puberty in ancient populations.
